Chapter Five — General Functions (continued)
ConvertDeleteNewlines Function
Overview
The ConvertDeleteNewlines function removes newline characters from a string.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = ConvertDeleteNewlines ( string data );
Parameters
data
A string to convert.
Return Value
Returns a string with newline characters removed or an empty string on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
The ConvertDeleteNewlines function will only remove ASCII newline characters (‘\n’) from the string. Note that the ConvertDeleteNewlines function has a processing limitation of 2MB at a time and is therefore not optimal for removing line endings within files or large chunks of text. Additionally, the ReadLine function returns a line of a file irrespective of its line ending and does not return line endings.
The return string has a maximum size of 2MB. If the buffer is exceeded, the GetLastError function will return ERROR_OVERFLOW.
