StripOrdinalSuffix Function

Overview

The StripOrdinalSuffix function strips an ordinal suffix from a number such as “2nd” to “2”.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

string = StripOrdinalSuffix ( string data );

Parameters

data

A string containing the source data. 

Return Value

Returns a string with the adjusted value or or empty on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.

Remarks

If the string fails to pass the ordinal suffix syntax, the result will be an error and empty string. If the string exceeds 25 character it will return an error.

The function does not test that validity of the corresponding number, for example, “2st” will is ok.

The function uses US English suffixes.
