Chapter Five — General Functions (continued)
Overview
The IntegerToAlpha function converts an integer to a string containing equivalent letter-style numbering (such as those commonly used in spreadsheet columns).
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = IntegerToAlpha ( int value, [boolean lower] );
Parameters
value
An int to convert.
lower
An optional boolean value, if non-zero the result will be lower case. The default is upper case.
Return Value
Returns the string equivalent of value or an empty string on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
The IntegerToAlpha function is particularly useful when creating data that might be read in spreadsheet applications, which commonly denote columns using letter notation. The conversion from integers to letters is zero inclusive such that 0 becomes ‘A’ and 26 becomes ‘AA’ and so forth. There is no equivalent to negative numbers for alphabetic numbers. Note that the numbering and lettering sequences in XDS and XFR files are incorrect and this routine cannot be used to convert between them.
