Chapter Six — File Functions (continued)
Overview
The GetEditObjectName function retrieves the name of the window associated window.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = GetEditObjectName ( handle hObject );
Parameters
hObject
A handle to an Edit Object or an Edit View.
Return Value
Returns a string containing the name of the window/edit object or an empty string on failure. Use GetLastError function to retrieve a formatted error code.
Remarks
The GetEditObjectName function returns the name of an edit window, which is normally a filename (less path) but could also be a compound object name. The edit window name should not be confused with the window text associated with window classes. For example, a dialog static control legend “Zip Code:” can be considered window text but is not the same as an edit window name.
If the returned string is empty and the GetLastError function returns ERROR_NONE, the edit window is untitled.
