Chapter Seven — Math Functions (continued)
Overview
The Hypotenuse function returns the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle whose legs are x and y.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
float = Hypotenuse ( float x, float y);
Parameters
x y
Numeric source value as float. The values correspond to the legs of a right-angled triangle for which the hypotenuse is computed. If not a float the data will be converted to a 64-bit floating-point number.
Return Value
If the magnitude of the result is too large to be represented by a value of the return type, the function may return #INF with the proper sign (in which case, an overflow range error occurs). Use GetLastError or IsError to determine if an error occurred.
Remarks
Returns the square root of (x2+y2).
