Overview
The StaticControlGetText retrieves the text from an edit or static control either in direct and in validation mode.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = StaticControlGetText ( int id );
Parameters
id
An int containing the control ID of a static control.
Return Value
Returns a string containing the text or an empty string on failure or if the control does not contain any text. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information. In validation mode, the last error code will contain the control ID which can be returned directly to the dialog validate procedure to set focus on the offending control.
Remarks
The StaticControlGetText function is designed specifically to retrieve text from a static control. Addressing a different control class will result in an error. The string is copied verbatim without validation up to 1,048,575 characters in size. Depending on the control, the size of data may be further limited.
