Chapter Eighteen — DataView Integration (continued)
Overview
The DataViewIslNullCell function tests if the specified cell is null (a cell that exists only in the matrix).
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
boolean = DataViewIslNullCell ( handle object, [int row, int column] | [string address] );
Parameters
object
A handle either to a Data View Object or to a window that employs Data View.
row and column
An optional pair of int values specifying the row and column of the cell. Or,
address
An optional string that can be used as a cell address as an alternative to specifying the row and column parameters.
Return Value
Returns TRUE if the cell is null or FALSE if it is not null or on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
A null cell is a position in the row-column matrix that is not defined or does not contain data or attributes. Cells are addressed via a sheet matrix, which in turn contains offsets to cell information within a large array. If a cell does not exist at the specified position, it is null. By default when a sheet is created or •expanded, new cells will be null. When data or attributes are set, then the cell is not null. It is not possible to force a cell to be null.
