Chapter FiveGeneral Functions (continued)

IsLeaderFill Function

Overview

The IsLeaderFill function tests if a string contains leader fill characters. The function begins the test at the start of the string and moves forward to the last position. Any non-leader character sequence will cause the functions to return FALSE.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

boolean = IsLeaderFill ( string value );

Parameters

value

A string to test.

Return Value

Returns TRUE if value contains leader fill characters or FALSE if it does not.

Remarks

The IsLeaderFill function is useful when parsing ASCII tables or HTML tables with leaders embedded into cells. The string may contain leading word spaces. The IsLeaderFill function checks for both dot (‘.’) and ellipse (‘…’) leader fill. There is UNICODE support for ellipse leader fill characters.  Dot leader fill must contain at least three periods to be considered leader fill. A dot leader fill may also contain spaces, but only one space can exist between two dots (“. . . . . .”).
