IsRegexMatch Function

Overview

The IsRegexMatch function performs a regular expression (regex) pattern match on a string.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

boolean = IsRegexMatch ( string source, string pattern, [boolean case] );

Parameters

source

A string to test against the regular expression.

pattern

A string specifying the regular expression pattern.

case

A boolean flag indicating whether to perform the search in a case-sensitive manner. The default is a TRUE indicating a case-sensitive search.

Return Value

Returns TRUE if value matches the pattern characters or FALSE if it does not.

Remarks

IsRegexMatch returns TRUE if the value matches the regular expression pattern.

Related Functions

CompareStrings — Compares string a to string b and returns 0 if equal, -1 if a < b and 1 if a > b.

CompareStringsNoCase — Compares string a to string b without regard to text case and returns 0 if equal, -1 if a < b and 1 if a > b.

FindInString — Finds a string within a string with optional position and case sensitivity.

InString — Tests for a string as part of a target string with or without case sensitivity.

IsInString — Checks for a string or character matching inside a target string.

IsWildListMatch — Compares a list of match items against the ‘target’ string using ‘*’ and ‘?’ wildcards. Each match should be separated by a semicolon.

IsWildMatch — Compares the ‘target’ string to the ‘match’ string using ‘*’ and ‘?’ wildcard characters.

ReplaceInStringRegex — Replaces matching strings inside another string using regular expression rules.
