GetVolumeSerialNumber Function
Overview
The GetVolumeSerialNumber function retrieves a drive’s volume serial number.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = GetVolumeSerialNumber ( string path );
Parameters
path
A string containing a qualified path.
Return Value
Returns a string containing the volume serial number of the drive or an empty string on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
The GetVolumeSerialNumber function will return the volume serial number of both local drives and mapped network drives. The volume can be empty. The serial number is a hexadecimal value.
