Chapter Eight — Data Functions (continued)
Overview
The ODBCGetColumnCount function returns the number of columns of data within an ODBC Results Object. Note that the host database must support this function.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
int = ODBCGetColumnCount ( handle hResult );
Parameters
hResult
A handle for an ODBC Results Object.
Return Value
Returns an int containing the number of columns within the result object or -1 on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
The number of columns is tied to the query result and may be less than the width of the table being queried. A value of -1 may also be returned if the ODBCGetColumnCount function is not supported by the host.
