12.4 HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

12.4.1 General

HTTP is the primary method of interchange between browsers and web servers. Legato supports limited functionality to access web servers via HTTP.

HTTP employs a number of ‘request methods’ or ‘verb’ to make a request to a web server. Of those verbs, Legato only supports the ‘GET’ verb.

Certificates, layering and all protocol management is performed by Windows WinInet. Higher level functions such as meta or script based redirects are not processed.

12.4.2 HTTP Functions

HTTPGetCookies — Returns all the cookie strings associated with a specific URL.

HTTPGetCookieValue — Returns the string associated with a specific named cookie.

HTTPGetFile — Performs an HTTP "get" operation for the specified URI and saves to the specified file. Optional "no cache" flag. The uri parameter must specify an http or https scheme.

HTTPGetString — Performs an HTTP "get" operation for the specified URI and returns string. The uri parameter must specify an http or https scheme.

HTTPGetUserAgent — Get the current HTTP User Agent.

HTTPOpenConnection — Sets up for a connection to a specific server for HTTP traffic.

HTTPPost — Performs an HTTP ‘post’ operation to the specified URI with parameters and optional file.

HTTPRawRequest — Allows a raw post via the HTTP port.

HTTPSetUserAgent — Sets the user agent string for HTTP requests.
