IsTrue Function

Overview

The IsTrue function tests a string as being the equivalent of logical ‘true’.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

boolean = IsTrue ( string value );

Parameters

value

A string to test.

Return Value

Returns TRUE if the string matches various conditions for true (see the Remarks section) or FALSE if it does not.

Remarks

The IsTrue function is useful when an incoming answer or result may be a true condition but indicated in a number of ways. Aside from any non-zero number, the following strings count as true:

true t
yes [x]
y |x|
x /x/

The IsTrue function is case-insensitive; both “true” and “TRUE” will cause the function to return TRUE.
