Chapter Seven — Math Functions (continued)
Overview
The ArcCosine (acos) function returns the principal value of the arc cosine of x expressed as an angle in radians, degrees or gradians.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
float = ArcCosine ( float x );
Parameters
x
A float containing a numeric source value. If x is not a float, the data will be converted to a 64-bit floating-point number.
Return Value
Returns a float containing the principal arc cosine of x in the interval [0,pi] in the default angle mode or #INF on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
In trigonometry, arc cosine is the inverse operation of cosine. The arc cosine of x is computed in the interval [-1,+1]. If the argument is out of this interval, the GetLastError function will return ERROR_OVERFLOW.
The default angle mode is radians where one radian is equivalent to 180/PI degrees. Use the SetAngleMode function to change the returned units.
