Chapter Eleven — SGML Functions (continued)
Overview
The CSSLayerProperties function takes a property array and layers CSS properties in an SGML Object’s current element.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
int = CSSLayerProperties ( handle hSGML, string[] properties );
Parameters
hSGML
A handle to a SGML Object.
properties
A string array containing standard CSS data in the form of element data each with a key name as the property name.
Return Value
An int as ERROR_NONE or a formatted error code on failure. For syntax errors, the lower word will contain the offending array index.
Remarks
The CSSLayerProperties function differs from the CSSSetProperties function in that existing CSS properties in the element data are updated as required or remain unchanged.
Data values must be well formatted and match the requirements of the property. Shorthand values are expanded just as if parsed from a source document. A property can be cleared by leaving the data entry blank or using the phrase “(default)” or “(mixed)”.
For example:
list["text-align"] = "center"; list["color"] = ""; list["margin-left"] = "12pt"; CSSSetProperties(hSGML, list);
An erroneous item will stop the process of adding items to the element. The return code will contain the index of the offending array item.
The CSSLayerDeclaration and CSSSetDeclaration functions allow parameters to be adjusted via a declaration string.
