In October 2022, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued the
Invitation to Comment, Proposed Meta Model Relationships. The initial comment period, which was set to end on January 10, 2023, has been extended to May 11, 2023.
The meta model relationships are designed to communicate base-level accounting model relationships in XBRL that may:
- assist preparers in determining the proper elements for tagging their filings
- assist data users in the consumption of data
- assist in writing business rules
For more information on these proposals, interested parties may view a replay of the joint FASB and XBRL US webinar, “FASB Meta Model Invitation to Comment and Proposed Policy Election Element Relationships”, held in November 2022.
The public may submit feedback by emailing comments to xbrled@fasb.org.
