SEC’s Division of Investment Management and Division of Trading and Markets to Hold Open Meeting

SEC staff in the Division of Investment Management and the Division of Trading and Markets will hold an open meeting via webcast on sec.gov to address the topics of Shortening the Settlement Cycle and Safeguarding Advisory Client Assets. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET and is free and open for the public to attend. {expires: 2023-02-16}

During the meeting, the Divisions will discuss Shortening the Settlement Cycle, in particular:

  • whether to adopt rules and rule amendments under the Securities Exchange Act (applicable to broker-dealers and certain clearing agencies) to shorten the standard settlement cycle for most securities transactions
  • whether to adopt rule amendments under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 to require investment advisers to maintain certain related records

The Divisions will also consider matters related to Safeguarding Advisory Client Assets, including:

  • whether to propose to amend and redesignate rule 206(4)-2 under the Advisers Act related to the safeguarding of client assets
  • whether to propose corresponding amendments to the investment adviser recordkeeping rule and to Form ADV under the Advisers Act

For further information, contact Melissa Roverts Harke or Christopher Staley of the Division of Investment Management, at (202) 551-6792, or Vanessa A. Countryman of the Office of the Secretary at (202) 551-5400.
