On July 17th, the SEC announced that its staff has issued its first semi-annual report to Congress concerning the public and internal use of machine-readable data for corporate disclosures.
The report provides comprehensive analysis on the following matters:
- corporate disclosures expressed as machine-readable data
- existing structured data requirements, costs, and benefits of the use of machine-readable data
- how the SEC’s staff uses the machine-readable data that the SEC collects
- enforcement actions resulting from the use or analysis of the machine-readable data that the SEC collects
- public use of the machine-readable data that the SEC collects
