On September 12th, the SEC released the Interactive Data Test Suite Update 67d-230901. Filers may view an overview of the updates by accessing the Change Log in the final section of the summary file. The SEC has made the public test suite available to assist filers who are using software to validate interactive data prior to its submission to the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system.
The test suite is comprised of a number of small interactive data instances, schemas, and linkbases essentially that ask the following questions:
- Do they violate a validation check?
- If they do violate a validation check, which validation check do they violate?
- Would that violation result in a warning or in an error that would cause the interactive data to be rejected?
The SEC encourages registrants to use the Interactive Data Test Suite to identify potential errors promptly so they may be rectified before actual submission to EDGAR. The modification to the test suite does not indicate SEC approval of any potential regulatory changes related to the EDGAR Filer Manual. For updates, including information on when the SEC approves changes related to the EDGAR Filer Manual, visit the SEC's EDGAR webpage.
Feedback on the test suite may be submitted via email to StructuredData@sec.gov using “Interactive Data Test Suite” as the subject.
Using GoFilers validation functions is a quick and easy way to ensure your filing is EDGAR-compliant. For more information, please contact support.
