On March 27th, the SEC adopted new Regulation SE under the Securities Exchange Act that creates a regime for the registration and regulation of security-based swap execution facilities (SBSEFs). The new regime also addresses other issues related to security-based swap execution.
In accordance with the SEC’s new rule, registered SBSEFs (or SBSEF applicants) are required to file specified information electronically using the EDGAR system in Inline XBRL, a structured, machine-readable data language. The new tagging elements for this information are included in the new draft Security-Based Swap (SBS) taxonomy.
A draft version of the SBS taxonomy has been posted, and the files are available on the SEC’s Taxonomies webpage. Interested parties may email comments to StructuredData@sec.gov through May 27, 2024. Emails should have “Draft 2024 SBS Taxonomy” as the subject.
