On June 20th, 2017, the Securities and Exchange Commission named Robert Evans III as the Deputy Director in the Division of Corporation Finance.
Mr. Evans has experience advising on public and private offerings as well as securities law compliance and corporate governance. He has been a frequent speaker and writer on these topics in addition to legal ethics in business. Recently Mr. Evans worked at Shearman & Sterling LLP as a partner in the firm’s capital markets practice. He was also a member of the TriBar Opinion Committee, the Working Group on Legal Opinions, the American Law Institute, and Co-Chair of Shearman & Sterling’s Opinion Committee.
He has extensive transactional practice as well, and SEC Chairman Jay Clayton indicated that Mr. Evans has been a leading voice on the issues concerning how investors and companies interact with public and private markets. “The Division of Corporation Finance will benefit greatly from [his] extensive experience and his commitment to advancing the SEC’s mission,” said Mr. Clayton.
Mr. Evans will join Deputy Director Shelley Parratt as a senior adviser to William Hinman, the division’s director.
