On August 24, 2017, the SEC announced a fee rate of $124.50 per million dollars for the 2018 fiscal year. This is the fee public companies and other issuers pay to register their securities with the Commission.
The SEC is required to make annual adjustments to the fee rates under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to ensure the fees will generate collections equal to projected annual statutory amounts. These amounts are set in consultation with the Congressional Budget Office and the Office of Management and Budget. For 2018, the statutory target amount is $620 million.
The new rate, which is an increase from last year’s rate of $115.90 per million, goes into effect October 1st, 2017. Further fee rate notices may be announced as appropriate.
