The Securities and Exchange Commission is planning to release EDGAR 18.3 in October 2018. The EDGAR Filer Manual (Volume II) will also be updated to Version 48 with this release. These changes will take effect on October 1 if approved (for non-rule based changes; see the SEC Final Rules posted here for rule-based changes and their implementation dates).
EDGAR 18.3 updates include:
- Changes that remove the ability to access return copies of submissions if a return copy is requested.
- Changes to forms N-CEN and N-PORT.
- Changes to amendment forms (such as 8-K/A, 20-F/A, and NT 20F/A) that will allow the amended submission to go through if the period tag does not match that of the live and accepted filing.
- Notifications to users from EDGAR if a submission contains possible XBRL tagging issues (with corresponding changes to EDGAR Filer Manual, Volume II to describe the potential warnings).
The draft of the EDGAR Filer Manual (Volume II) EDGAR Filing (Version 48) is available here.
Because of this announcement, we are delaying GoFiler’s next release until October 1st, so the EDGAR 18.3 changes will immediately be reflected in the software.
