To aid filers avoid missing deadlines and reduce congestion around busy important filing dates, the SEC provides an anticipated peak filing schedule. Peak EDGAR filing times are estimated using historical data. The 2020 schedule is now available from the SEC.
The Commission suggests filers submit test filings prior to a filing’s due date. This will help ease congestion and the high volume of activity on those dates. In addition, the Commission warns that filers may experience longer than usual waiting periods for filing support during these peak volume times. EDGAR filing volume on peak days tends to be highest in the hour prior to the end of the filing day.
