On August 28th, FERC announced details for the upcoming Carbon Pricing in Organized Wholesale Electricity Markets Technical Conference, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 9 am to 5:30 pm EDT. Registration is not necessary, and the public is invited to take part in this free event via live webcast.
FERC will convene a Commissioner-led conference featuring panels that will review matters related to carbon pricing approaches where a state (or group of states) sets a specific carbon price, whether through a price-based or quantity-based method. The panelists will explore how that carbon price intersects with RTO/ISO-administered markets, focusing on both legal and technical concerns. The conference will open with remarks from members of Congress, FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee and Commissioners Richard Glick, Bernard L McNamee, and James Danly. It will conclude with a closing roundtable discussion.
The event page for the conference will be updated prior to the conference with a link to the web event and any additional materials. Contact information for inquiries related to the event will also be available on the event page. Transcripts of the conference will be available for a fee from Ace Reporting, (202) 347-3700. FERC conferences are accessible under section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. For accessibility accommodations, please e-mail accessibility@ferc.gov, call toll-free (866) 208-3372 (voice) or (202) 208-8659 (TTY), or send a fax to (202) 208-2106 with the necessary accommodations.
