On March 23, 2021, the FERC announced several filing deadline extensions for third quarter 2021 quarterly filings for electric utilities, natural gas, and oil pipeline companies. These extensions are intended to allow additional time necessary for the transition to the XBRL-based system.
The deadline extensions are as follows:
- 3-Q (electric) for Major Electric Utilities and Others has been changed from November 29, 2021 to December 31, 2021
- 3-Q (electric) for Non-major Public Utilities and Licensees has been changed from December 9, 2021 to December 31, 2021
- 3-Q (natural gas) for Major Natural Gas Companies has been changed from November 29, 2021 to December 31, 2021
- 3-Q (natural gas) for Non-major Natural Gas Companies has been changed from December 9, 2021 to December 31, 2021
- 6-Q (oil) for Oil Pipeline Companies has been changed from December 9, 2021 to December 31, 2021
The FERC also announced that the XBRL taxonomies, validation rules, and rendering files required to file the FERC Forms needed for the FERC XBRL launch will be updated to Release 1.5. on April 15, 2021. This measure was set forth in the July 17, 2020 Order on Technical Conference. The updated taxonomies will be accessible in the Yeti viewer, and the updated validation rules and rendering files will be available via FERC’s eForms Refresh webpage. The current Visual FoxPro-based system will no longer be available for filings submitted after September 30, 2021. As indicated on the eForms portal, all FERC form filings and refilings must be made using the appropriate taxonomies, validation rules, and rendering files for the relevant form.
