The FERC’s Division of Dam Safety and Inspections will hold a remote seminar featuring its recently developed Emergency Action Plans (EAP) Exercise Design Course to discuss both the FERC requirements that there be a comprehensive EAP exercise as well as the steps required to develop, conduct, evaluate, and follow-up on an effective exercise. The sessions will be led by presenters Dustin Kaste and Carrie Harris and will take place Wednesday, June 2, 2021 and Thursday, June 3, 2021. Each day’s events will begin at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) and last for approximately five hours. The sessions are free to attend. {expires: 2021-06-05}
EAPs play a key role in FERC’s dam safety program. Successful implementation of an EAP begins with every individual involved during an emergency understanding each other’s specific responsibilities. This involves the periodic comprehensive testing and participation with state and local emergency preparedness agencies. For more information on Emergency Action Plans, see Chapter 6 of FERC’s Engineering Guidelines for the Evaluation of Hydropower Projects.
