The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy (OIEA) introduced a new public service campaign on June 23, 2021 as an outreach effort featuring two short videos that aim to educate investors, notably the underserved, on the benefits of investing. With the objective of ensuring investors have access to accurate, useful information, the SEC is also promoting the free financial planning tools and information available on the SEC’s online investor resource,
investor.gov. The SEC intends to reach the greatest number and variety of people as possible through these web resources.
The focus of the OIEA’s current campaign is helping investors understand the that gratification in investing is found in learning to make the most sound investment decisions concerning financial goals. The first of two campaign videos features an investor realizing the ease and benefits of portfolio diversification. In the second campaign video, an investor learns about compound interest and potential financial advantages to contributing to investments with regularity.
The current campaign videos may be viewed at investor.gov. Investor.gov also has archived videos available that address investing topics including day trading, index funds, margin accounts, microcap stocks, fractional shares, and more.
