As of Tuesday, July 27, the SEC has discontinued support for Windows 7 and Internet Explorer. Windows 7 has not been supported by Microsoft since January 14, 2020, and Internet Explorer will reach end-of-life in June of 2022. The SEC has now updated its security protocols on
www.edgarfiling.sec.gov and associated websites to no longer accept legacy security credentials from computers accessing the website via Windows 7 using Internet Explorer. This change also affects Windows Server 2012.
GoFiler will continue to operate in Windows 7 and with Internet Explorer; however, we also no longer actively support these platforms and cannot guarantee reliable behavior or functionality. Therefore, we strongly recommend you upgrade your operating system to Windows 10 as soon as possible. If updating is not possible and you must continue to use Windows 7, you can submit your filings to the EDGAR system by:
- saving the project as an EDGAR Internet Submission file (.eis)
- logging into EDGARLink Online or the EDGAR filing website manually using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
- submitting the .eis file through the SEC’s submission interfaces
This work-around is contingent upon the SEC continuing to allow for access through these browsers on Windows 7. Therefore, again, we highly recommend you upgrade your operating system to Windows 10 and select a modern browser as soon as is feasible.
Update (7/27/2021 5:17 p.m. ET): The SEC’s filing websites have restored functionality for Windows 7/Internet Explorer. However, we still recommend you keep up to date with upgrades to your operating system in a timely manner, particularly as software reaches end of support from its developer.
