The FERC will present a workshop to address certain performance-based ratemaking approaches that may foster deployment of transmission technologies, particularly shared savings. When utilized in certain circumstances, transmission technologies may enhance reliability, efficiency, and capacity, and improve the operation of new or existing transmission facilities. {expires: 2021-09-11}
The virtual event will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. The webinar is free and open for the public to attend remotely. A supplemental notice will be issued prior to the event with further information regarding the agenda, logistics and instructions on how to join the webcast.
The workshop will explore topics related to:
- performance-based ratemaking and shared savings approaches for transmission technologies seeking incentives under Federal Power Act section 219
- verifying forecasted benefits
- calculating ex ante and ex post benefit analyses for transmission technologies seeking incentives
- data needed to study the benefits/costs of such technologies
- access to or confidentiality of data
- time horizons that should be considered for such studies
- whether and how to account for circumstances in which benefits do not materialize as anticipated
