The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) recently issued its
2021 Investor Outreach Report, which is now available through the FASB’s
Investor Web Portal. The report details the investor outreach program, the program’s activities during the last year, and the ways the FASB intends to continue expanding on its goals to broaden investor outreach efforts.
The viewpoints of investors are key to the FASB’s ability to develop effective standards, so the organization places special importance on pursuing a number of efforts to interact with stakeholders. The publication also highlights the expansive investor outreach conducted by the FASB staff over the last year, which included more than 430 connections with investors. The FASB staff approached each of these engagements with the goal of soliciting a wide range of investor perspectives from the following:
- buy-side portfolio managers and analysts
- sell-side analysts
- accounting analysts (both buy-side and sell-side)
- credit rating agency managers and analysts
- individual investors
- private company lenders and other capital providers (such as venture capital/private equity)
The publication of the FASB’s Investor Outreach Report coincided with the introduction of the organization’s enhanced investor web portal. The portal is an all-inclusive resource that provides easy access to information on:
- how investors can share their views on all FASB activities
- projects of interest to investors
- investor-focused educational videos on specific standards
The FASB’s Investor Outreach Report and Investor Web Portal are available at www.fasb.org.
