XBRL US has announced that it will host a webinar to discuss the demand for corporate Environmental Social Governance (ESG) data and what investors expect from public companies reporting about their environmental impact. The SEC is taking action on how companies report information about ESG and climate change, and this webinar will take place ahead of an expected rule proposal on these matters. The one-hour event will take place on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, and will begin at 3:00 p.m. EST. {expires: 2022-01-20}
The webinar will feature a presentation of sample machine-readable ESG reports and discussions with the XBRL US ESG Working Group (composed of SEC filers, corporate governance and investor relations professionals, analysts, investors, and ESG standard setters, as well as XBRL software providers) about findings and recommendations for regulators including the following:
- Rendering data machine-readable
- Addressing ways to manage multiple ESG frameworks
- Ensuring data visualizations produce concrete datasets
- Helping issuers meet the needs of different users
- Enabling the fusion of ESG data with other types of data
- Current issues with ESG reporting
- Ways data standards may result in more consistent, accessible information
- How enhanced data integrity may lessen the burden on issuers seeking to respond to multiple data users
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. For further details, including instructions on registration and how to join the webinar, visit the event’s webpage on xbrl.us.
