Version 5.8a of all applications in the GoFiler Suite has been released. This release corresponds to EDGAR 21.1.3 and contains improvements and corrections for Page View, XDX, iXBRL and XBRL View. Additionally, changes were made to correct issues with Forms ATS-N, N-PORT, N-CEN, and C.

The XBRL US Data Quality Committee (DQC) will host a webinar to discuss the recently published 15th Ruleset, which is comprised of nine rules specific to US GAAP filers and IFRS filers. The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT. This event allows the DQC the opportunity to review the impact of the rules on data quality reported through the SEC program and to clarify the new draft rules. Proposed Ruleset 15 covers a range of potential error types and will warn filers of possible problems within thousands of filings. The SEC upgraded the EDGAR system to Release 21.1 on March 22, 2021. The system now supports the 2021 reporting taxonomies, which are the final versions of the draft taxonomies that were posted by SEC staff for public comment on September 1, 2020.

With the release of EDGAR 21.1, the SEC has revised Volume I of the EDGAR Filer Manual and Form ID, as well as related rules. Those who apply for EDGAR access who previously used the “Convert Paper Only Filer to Electronic Filer” process are now required to submit Form ID and an authenticating document to apply for access to file on EDGAR. Version 5.6c of all applications in the GoFiler Suite has been released. This release contains a number of improvements to HTML and project validation, as well as XDX improvements pertaining to continuations. Additionally, new features were added to filter the RSS news feed and to set the time zone for GoFiler’s internal logs and proofs.

On February 2, 2021, the SEC published “Administration of the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval System” in the Federal Register as a result of rule changes previously approved. Rule 15 under Regulation S-T establishes measures the SEC may take in governing EDGAR and promoting the integrity and reliability of EDGAR submissions. The SEC adopted the new rule to provide transparency and further substantiate the system by which it expeditiously informs filers and other relevant individuals of its activities under the rule. Pursuant to Regulation S-T, the SEC also adopted amendments that authorize the Director of the agency’s EDGAR Business Office to take actions under the new rule and under (i) Rule 13(b) concerning setting the terms of continuing hardship exemption and (ii) Rule 202 regarding the adjustment of a filing date for an electronic filing. On January 13, 2021, the SEC released a statement concerning Form 13H and filing issues due to Adobe Flash Player’s End of Life. Adobe officially discontinued support for Flash Player on December 31, 2020. Because of this, filers have been experiencing issues with filing Form 13H (and its variants). SEC staff are working on a technical fix. They expect to implement this fix no later than January 31, 2021.
