SEC Announces EDGAR Release 21.2
The SEC has announced that it will release EDGAR 21.2 on Monday, June 21. This update will introduce multiple changes to the EDGAR filing website, as well as various changes to Form N-CEN and the introduction of the IFRS 2021 XBRL Taxonomy.

SEC Reminds Operating Companies of Approaching Final Phase-In Date for Inline XBRL
The SEC adopted amendments on June 28, 2018 that required filers to use Inline XBRL (iXBRL) for both operating company financial statement information and fund risk/return summary information. Filers using iXBRL are able to prepare a single document that embeds machine-readable data directly into a human-readable document. This gives data users a simpler means to view, access, and explore the contextual information of the underlying data.

SEC Issues Annual Regulatory Agenda
On June 11, 2021, the SEC’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs published the Spring 2021 Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions. The report is comprised of contributions related to the SEC and a list of short- and long-term regulatory measures that administrative agencies plan to take. With the mission of safeguarding investing investors, facilitating capital formation, and maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient markets, the SEC proposes and finalizes rules that strengthen markets and increase transparency.

SEC Revises List of Entities Soliciting Investors with Inaccurate Information
On June 9, 2021, the SEC announced that it has revised its list of unregistered entities that use inaccurate data to solicit mainly non-US investors, adding 55 soliciting entities, five bogus regulators, and four impersonators of real firms.

FERC to Hold Conference on Resource Adequacy Developments in the Western Interconnection
The FERC staff will hold an online conference to engage with varied regional perspectives to discuss developments, challenges, and possible ways to continue to ensure resource adequacy in the Western Interconnection. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 – Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (EDT). The conference is free and will be open for the public to attend remotely over WebEx or on FERC’s website. FERC Releases Hybrid Resources White Paper, Issues Notice Inviting Comments
On May 26, 2021, the FERC published a staff white paper examining hybrid resources and a notice soliciting related feedback. On January 19, 2021, the agency directed each Regional Transmission Organization and Independent System Operator (RTO/ISO) to submit by July 19, 2021 informational reports covering issues pertaining to hybrid resources, which are resources that share a point of interconnection and incorporate at least two different resource types.

The SEC has announced its virtual Investor Advisory Committee meeting that will take place on June 10, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT. The public may attend the free event which will be presented live via webcast at sec.gov. The meeting will also be archived on the Committee’s website for later viewing.

FERC to Host Virtual 2021 EAP Exercise Design Course
The FERC’s Division of Dam Safety and Inspections will hold a remote seminar featuring its recently developed Emergency Action Plans (EAP) Exercise Design Course to discuss both the FERC requirements that there be a comprehensive EAP exercise as well as the steps required to develop, conduct, evaluate, and follow-up on an effective exercise. The sessions will be led by presenters Dustin Kaste and Carrie Harris and will take place Wednesday, June 2, 2021 and Thursday, June 3, 2021. Each day’s events will begin at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) and last for approximately five hours. The sessions are free to attend. {expires: 2021-06-05}

DERA Brings Attention to Incorrect Use of Continuing Operations Elements in the Statement of Cash Flows
The staff of the SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) has discovered that certain filers who report under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are using elements for the Statement of Cash Flows that are intended explicitly for continuing operations. These filers do not actually report continuing and discontinued operations separately and should be using general elements to tag each respective subtotal for operating, investing, and financing activities.

FERC to Host Conference to Discuss Climate Change, Extreme Weather, and Electric System Reliability
The FERC staff will host a webinar to discuss matters relative to the potential risk to electric system reliability posed by climate change and extreme weather events. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, and Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET. FERC Commissioners may attend and participate in the technical conference.

SEC Staff Issues Guidance on EDGAR Filing of Form C
The SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance recently provided guidance that reflects its views concerning the filing of Form C to the SEC with respect to the effectiveness of certain rule changes as introduced in Release No. 33-10884. This guidance on EDGAR filing of Form C: 1) is not a rule, regulation or statement of the SEC; 2) has neither agency approval nor disapproval; 3) has no legal force or effect; 4) does not alter or amend applicable law; and 5) creates no new or additional obligations for any person.

FASB Proposes Revisions for Future Taxonomies Related to Proposed ASU on Fair Value Hedging
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has recently issued proposed updates to the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy and SEC Reporting Taxonomy related to the proposed Accounting Standards Update (ASU) on Derivatives and Hedging (Topic 815): Fair Value Hedging – Portfolio Method. The proposed revisions to the taxonomies will include: 1) new elements, 2) newly added references to transition elements, 3) modified documentation and standard labels, 4) element deprecations, and 5) reference deletions. {expires: 2021-07-06}
