The latest release (5.10b) of the GoFiler family of products includes a beta version of the new view for Form 24F-2 for editing Form 24F-2NT as XML. During the beta testing period, filers will be able to create a new submission Form Type 24F-2 and perform basic editing operations. Support for the Save and Open functions has also been added in the release. The Form 24F-2 is expected to be fully operational in time for the December release of GoFiler. The SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) recently released an announcement reminding filers to use the standard elements provided in the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) taxonomy to tag data rather than create and use custom tags. The SEC has recognized that, though custom tags accommodate unique conditions in a filer’s individual disclosure, the use of custom tags could potentially impair users’ ability to compare similar data across companies. The SEC announced on September 1, 2021 that a draft 2021Q4 update and a draft 2022 update to the SEC taxonomies were issued for the public to review and submit comments. The draft 2021 release updates the Document and Entity Information (DEI) taxonomy and the Closed-End Fund (CEF), which is a new taxonomy resulting from the Securities Offering Reform for Closed-End Investment Companies Final Rule. The final phase-in to use inline XBRL for Risk Return filings begins September 17, 2021. As of Tuesday, July 27, the SEC has discontinued support for Windows 7 and Internet Explorer. Windows 7 has not been supported by Microsoft since January 14, 2020, and Internet Explorer will reach end-of-life in June of 2022. The SEC has now updated its security protocols on www.edgarfiling.sec.gov and associated websites to no longer accept legacy security credentials from computers accessing the website via Windows 7 using Internet Explorer. XBRL US will host a webinar to share updates made to the XBRL Filed Data Add-in for Excel and to discuss recent revisions to XBRL API documentation, Tools for SEC Filers, and resources on XBRL US’ Data Community page. Following its upgrade to Release 21.2, the EDGAR system began supporting the 2021 International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Taxonomy. The 2021 IFRS Taxonomy is consistent with that of the International Accounting Standards Board which was made available on the its website on March 24, 2021. On June 22, 2021, the SEC announced amendments to Volume I of the EDGAR Filer Manual pertaining to Section 4.b and the Manual Passphrase Update Request. These updates require filers who have misplaced their passphrase to provide certain supporting documentation indicating the connection between the individual(s) requesting access and the existing EDGAR account. They must also provide documentation indicating how the individual(s) requesting access connects to the individual(s) acting on that individual’s behalf.
