Overview
The IsAlpha8859 function tests if a string or character contains only alphabetic characters (ASCII or Latin Letters ISO-8859-1).
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
boolean = IsAlpha8859 ( mixed value );
Parameters
value
A string or
a char to test. The character can be any type that will resolve to an integer.
Return Value
Returns TRUE if value contains only alphabetic characters (ASCII or ISO-8859-1) or FALSE if it contains non-alphabetic characters.
Remarks
The IsAlpha8859 function provides the broadest test for alphabetic characters as it includes ISO-8859-1 in addition to the basic ASCII alphabetic characters. There is Unicode support.
