IsExtendedAlpha Function

Overview

The IsExtendedAlpha function tests if a character is part of the extended Latin Letter character set (ISO-8859).

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

boolean = IsExtendedAlpha ( char value );

Parameters

value

A char to test. The character can be any type that will resolve to an integer.

Return Value

Returns TRUE if value is a member of the extended ISO-8859 character set or FALSE if it is not.

Remarks

ISO-8859 defines additional characters in the range of 0xA0 to 0xFF mostly containing accented characters.

This function tests for common ISO-8859 characters used in English words, it does not test the entire ISO-8859-1 group.

IsAlphaNumeric8859 — Tests a character or string for ASCII letters, numbers and ISO-8859 Latin letter character(s).
