IsAlphaNumeric8859 Function

Overview

The IsAlphaNumeric8859 function tests if a string or character contains only alphabetic or numeric characters. This check includes Latin Letters ISO-8859-1.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

boolean = IsAlphaNumeric8859 ( mixed value );

Parameters

value

A string or

a char to test. The character can be any type that will resolve to a latin alpha character or digit.

Return Value

Returns TRUE if value contains alphanumeric characters or FALSE if it does not.

Remarks

The IsAlphaNumeric8859 function provides the broadest test for alphabetic and numeric characters, as it includes ISO-8859-1 in addition to the basic ASCII alphabetic and numeric characters. There is no Unicode support.

IsExtendedAlpha — Tests a character to see if it is part of ISO-8859 latin alpha set commonly used in English.
